Dhina Dharshan Ganesan

Dhina Dharshan graduated with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours (LL.B) from the National University of Malaysia (UKM).

Known for his strong advocacy and research skills, he actively participated in moot court competitions throughout his academic journey. He has represented UKM as an oralist in six notable competitions, including Malaysia’s Next Advocate 2024, the ASEAN Moot Court Competition 2023, the Nuremberg Moot Court Competition 2023, the 19th Malaysian International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition 2022, the Novice Arbitration Mooting Competition (NAMCO) 2021, and the 3rd Dato Hanif Hassan E-Moot Court Competition 2021. Additionally, he mentored UKM’s team for six moot competitions, amassing a total of ten awards for his contributions.

Dharshan’s hands-on legal experience spans general litigation and corporate law, gained through a series of impactful internships. He completed a three-month internship with Rosli Dahlan Saravana Partnership (RDS) in 2023, followed by an internship with Ariff Rozhan & Co (ARC) in early 2024, and a recent one-month return internship at RDS. His involvement in the legal field extends to research, where he served as a Research Assistant for the Special Committee on Amendments to the Trustees (Incorporation) Act 1952 [ACT 258] and Graduate Research Assistant for the Committee for Drafting a Regulatory Framework for the Alcohol Industry in Malaysia.

Currently, Dharshan is contributing to legal scholarship by co-authoring a book under Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, titled Penahanan Reman: Kajian Terhadap Tahap Perlindungan Yang Perlu Diterima Oleh Orang Yang Disyaki. This publication underscores his dedication to exploring and improving the rights and protections afforded to suspects in remand detention.

Pugalanthyi Pillai A/L Vedikaran

Pugalanthyi Pillai A/L Vedikaran

Pugalanthyi recently completed his BPTC and master’s degree in Company Law and Compliance, and Corporate Governance in Practice with Distinction in 2024. Prior to this, he graduated from the University of Leeds with an LLB (Hons) in 2023, achieving an upper second-class degree.

In July 2024, he served as a Marshal under His Honour Judge Stephen Brown in Sheffield, where he gained valuable insights into family law. He observed a case involving the application of Section 8 of the Children Act 1989 and had the opportunity to engage in discussions with the judge on its practical implications. Additionally, he completed an internship with Lim Hong Nian & Co in August 2022. During his tenure, he contributed to the preparation of property conveyance documentation and honed his skills in drafting Wills and Trusts.

He demonstrated a well-rounded approach to his academic journey, actively participating in extracurricular and volunteer activities. As a member of the Leeds Sports Society, he engaged in touch rugby and table tennis. He also volunteered to organise the football event during the Leeds Winter Games. Beyond academics and activities, he has a keen interest in non-fiction, particularly finance-related literature.

Siti Aminah Mohd Zain

Siti Aminah graduated from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) with a LL.B (Hons) in August 2024. She is currently pursuing her studies in Diploma in Syariah Law and Practise at UiTM Shah Alam.

Her objective is to broaden the legal expertise and gain a comprehensive understanding of the legal field. She has a constant desire for deeper understanding and continuous learning, driven by her experiences and challenges, which motivate her to strive for personal and professional growth.

Siti Aminah has gained exposure to various areas of law, including Wills and Probate, Family Law, and Sharia Law, since completing her internship in 2022 at Roslina Sabiyah & Co. During her internship, she was tasked with drafting cover letters for relevant parties, preparing letters of authorisation, and attended inheritance matter at the Unit Pembahagian Pusaka. The experiences and tasks she undertook during her internship have helped refine her skills, preparing her for future work in these related areas.

During her university year, she actively participated in various curricular activities such as being a part of the committee member of International Law Student Conference (ILSC) 2022. She also had the opportunity to attend the Inns of Court Malaysia Grand Night 2024 and witnessed the Memorandum of Understanding between UiTM and Inns of Court Malaysia. Apart from that, she also participated in the UiTMLaw Global Lecture Series 2024 with the panellists from Indonesia on the topic of “Business Judgment Rules”.

Muhammad Amirul Rafeeq Aznorashiq

Amirul Rafeeq graduated from the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) with a LL.B (Hons) in 2024.

As an ambitious and passionate graduate in law, he began his legal career early, securing an internship at Hafiz Zubir & Co during his university days. This opportunity allowed him to gain invaluable hands-on experience in Intellectual Property (IP). His tasks included drafting legal documents, preparing client briefs, helping with trademark filing and registration, as well as assisting in counterfeit reporting on various marketplaces.

He was also actively involved in giving back to the community during his tenure as an officer of the IIUM Legal Aid Club, where he played a pivotal role in organising and leading various outreach initiatives. One of the standout programs during his involvement was ‘Jalinan Mahabbah’, a series of community-based events aimed at spreading legal awareness to underserved populations in nearby communities. As a key liaison between the IIUM Legal Aid Services and the local residents, he coordinated legal workshops and seminars that covered a wide range of essential legal topics, such as family law, tenants’ rights, and consumer protection.

He has developed a strong passion for both Intellectual Property (IP) and Corporate Law, driven by his fascination with how law intersects with innovation, creativity, and business development.

He is now part of Multimedia, Technology and Intellectual Property Practice Group under the supervision of our Partner, Khairul Fazli Abdul Kadir.

Evelyn Ng Can Fei

Evelyn Ng Can Fei was a KPM Bursary scholar from 2015 to 2016 and a recipient of the prestigious Tan Sri Datuk Seri Haji Abdul Malek Haji Ahmad Award in 2017. She graduated with First Class Honours in Bachelor of Laws from the University of Leeds in 2019. In 2021, she was awarded a degree of Master of Laws with distinction from BPP University, Leeds, where she also achieved a Very Competent grade in the Bar Professional Training Course modules.

Evelyn is a member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple Inn and has been called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2020.

Following her academic success, Evelyn completed her chambering at a large law firm in Kuala Lumpur. During this period, she gained experience in three departments on a rotational basis: Corporate Real Estate, Corporate (Mergers & Acquisitions), and Litigation. In December 2021, she was admitted to the Malaysian Bar and was subsequently retained in the Corporate Real Estate Department of the law firm in which she chambered.

Evelyn’s interest in dispute resolution grew over time, leading her to transition to a boutique litigation law firm in Kuala Lumpur. There, she gained experience in corporate and commercial litigation with a focus on commercial fraud wherein she was involved in representing various companies in their claims against directors and/or employees of the companies.

She is currently attached to the Shipping, Litigation & Arbitration Practice Group under the supervision of our Partner, Philip Teoh.

Chew Zhi Ning

Chew Zhi Ning graduated from the University of Liverpool with an LL.B (Hons) (First Class Honours) in 2023. She then pursued her Bar Practice Course at the University of Law, Leeds Campus and was called to the Bar of England and Wales by The Honourable Society of Middle Temple in July 2024.

Beyond her academic endeavours, she has undergone a judicial internship at the Federal Court of Malaysia under YA Tan Sri Datuk Nallini Pathmanathan in September 2024. She also completed a mini-pupillage at Enterprise Chambers, Leeds in May 2024 where she assisted in drafting Particulars of Claim against the tenant’s guarantor for rent arrears due to the company’s insolvent. Besides, she worked as a legal intern at Christopher and Lee Ong in August 2023 and at Lee Hishamuddin Allen and Gledhill (LHAG) in June 2022. During the tenure of her internships, she explored various practice areas of law, including corporate, civil litigation, and the employment industry, honing her research and concise legal writing skills.

During her varsity days, Zhi Ning participated in a plea in mitigation competition to sharpen her legal argument and advocacy skills. As a student advisor at Liverpool’s Law Clinic, she assisted clients with immigration status and visa applications. Alongside her role as a university ambassador where she led campus tours for prospective students, she also served as the Assistant Vice President of ALSA Malaysia’s Human Capital Department and actively organised events and activities for the society’s members.

Some of Zhi Ning’s assignments are as follows:

• Assisted in drafting a construction agreement for the Project Green Ecological Garden, ensuring compliance with legal standards and client objectives

• Assisted in the transfer of shares process between two foreign companies and prepare the relevant documents

• Conducted legal due diligence for projects involving company acquisitions and project acquisitions

• Conducted legal research on mechanisms for PETRONAS to secure land rights for the Nature Based Solution (NBS) Projects in Terengganu and Johor

• Conducted legal research on various fields of law, namely general corporate law issues, commercial law, land law and corporate governance

• Conducted legal research on the incorporation of Malaysian companies, including Labuan companies and the process of obtaining relevant licenses and work permit

• Co-wrote an article titled “Valuation Methodologies for M&A Transaction in Malaysia’

Siti Nur Syaqera Ahmad Jumali

Siti Nur Syaqera graduated from Universiti Utara Malaysia with a First Class LL.B (Hons) in 2023. She was also recognized as a Dean’s List Award recipient for six semesters due to her consistent academic performance.

During her year of studies, she spent the terms of her internship at Messrs Abdul Rahman & Partners, to gain extensive exposure to legal procedures primarily in civil litigation and conveyancing. Having said that, she was involved in organizing bankruptcy related case files, assisted lawyers in drafting cause papers and legal documents such as Writ of Summons and Statement of Claim. During her internship tenure, she also developed skills and received training for constructing loans and transfer of property documents.

During her involvement in extracurricular activities, she took on key roles in several high-profile events, showcasing her organizational skills. She was part of the Debate Demonstration and Workshop organized by the Law Students’ Society, acting as a Secretary. She also served on the committee for the Local Orientation Week organized by Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), where she worked alongside a dedicated team to execute a week-long orientation program for new students. She has also served as a committee member for the ASEAN Leadership Dialogue conducted by the Student Representative Council (MPP).

Fatin Umairah Mohd Zamros

Fatin Umairah graduated with an LL.B (Hons) from the International Islamic University Malaysia in 2024.

During her final year, she interned at Thomas Philip, working with the construction law team. This experience sparked her interest in litigation as she drafted cause papers and assisted with construction disputes under the guidance of her mentors. She also completed a three-month compulsory legal attachment at Azmi & Associates, primarily working in the Corporate department. These internships provided Fatin with valuable insights into the legal field and hands-on experience in both litigation and corporate law.

Fatin is also an accomplished moot court competitor. Her most notable achievement is representing Malaysia in the prestigious Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Washington, DC, where her team advanced to the later rounds. She has also participated in various other competitions, including the Lawasia Moot Competition 2022, the Frankfurt International Arbitration Moot 2023, and the International Humanitarian Law Moot 2022, where she won the Best Oralist award. Through mooting, Fatin has honed her advocacy, legal writing skills, and resilience.

Abu Ubaidah Zulkifli

Abu Ubaidah graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B), graduating with First Class Honours in August 2023, and a Bachelor of Law (Shari’ah) (LL.B(S)) with Second Class Upper in August 2024 from Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

He was nominated as the recipient of the Kulliyyah’s Book Award and the Rector’s List Award from the university. He also recently completed his professional certificate in Islamic Banking and Finance (CIBF) from the IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIiBF) in August 2024.

During his university days, Abu Ubaidah was an active student. He served as a member of the Election Committee and the Intellectual and Development Bureau in the IIUM Law Student Society. His leadership skills were further honed as the Head of Publication and Promotion Bureau for Kelab Debat Bahasa Melayu, and he served as President of Persatuan Belia Islam Nasional, CFS IIUM Chapter during his foundation studies. He also co-founded Projek-Lex in 2020, an independent platform offering educational content to the public, where he also served in the Communication Media Bureau.

In 2022, Abu Ubaidah went for an internship at Mahkamah Syariah Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, where he assisted unrepresented clients with the drafting of court documents pertaining to Islamic matrimonial claims and settlement procedures. More recently, he worked as a Graduate Research Assistant for the International Conference on the Harmonisation of Islamic Law (ICHSL) under Prof. Dr. Azizah Mohd., where he was exposed to academic writing, legal research, and publication work.

Abu Ubaidah is passionate about exploring the realms of Islamic Finance and Corporate Law industry.

Muhammad Raezal A.Rahim

Muhammad Raezal graduated from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) with a Second Class (Upper Division) LL.B (Hons) in 2024.

Before joining Azmi & Associates as a pupil, Raezal had undergone several internships to gain exposure to the legal field. In July 2023, he had undergone a three-month legal attachment programme at Messrs. Azlina Abdul Aziz & Associates as part of his university’s compulsory course requirement.

Having a keen interest in dispute resolution, he was mainly involved in drafting cause papers and conducting legal research for civil dispute cases involving Torts and Contract Law. Furthermore, in August 2024, Raezal had worked as a paralegal at Messrs. Thomas Philip, gaining exposure to Construction Law. He had also acted as an online paralegal, assisting a judge from the Sessions Court of Kuala Lumpur in conducting legal research, going through disputing parties’ cause papers, as well as drafting grounds of judgements, mainly involving accident cases.

Raezal was an active student during his university days, organising and participating in various events in IIUM. He has a deep passion in child education and development, evidently by being a main board member of Steadfast IIUM, a university-based society mainly focusing on conducting beneficial facilitating programs for students in primary and secondary schools. In relation to that, he was also heavily involved in organising a facilitating programme with the students of Henry Gurney School, Melaka, organised by the university’s Legal Aid Club.

He is now part of our Litigation & Arbitration Practice Group under the supervision of our Co-Deputy Managing Partner, Abu Daud Abd Rahim.
