Dhanya graduated from the University of Manchester in 2019 with a LL.B (Hons). She subsequently completed the LL.M Legal Practice (Barristers) in 2021, a joint Bar Professional Training Course and Master’s degree program, and was called to the Bar of England and Wales as a member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in March 2021.

She was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in March 2022. She is now an associate in the Senior Partner’s Office practice group working under the supervision of our Senior Partner, Dato’ Azmi Mohd Ali.

Siti Khadijah Khumairah Mohamed Yakob graduated from International Islamic University Malaysia with a 1st Class LL.B Hons. in 2021. She also made the Dean’s List for many semesters throughout her college career.

She completed her three months internship at Messrs. Munawir & Baidura where she was assigned to assist the lawyers in a number of tasks including researching legal concepts and appeal’s procedure, drafting pleadings, submissions and orders, as well as preparing exhibits. Through these assignments, she was heavily exposed to a broad range of accident and personal injury claims, probate and administration, family law matters and contractual disputes.

While in the university, she served as a Public Relations Officer for Law Majalla, a student-run law journal that provides a platform for students, academics and legal practitioners to publish their academic writings in a peer-reviewed journal. She has great interests for Employment and Industrial Relations and Civil Litigation.

Wardah Yumna Yunus graduated from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) with LL.B (Hons) in 2021.

In July 2019, she interned at the High Court of Malaya in Shah Alam, where she reviewed cases for the Insolvency Department and wrote summaries on criminal and civil trials. Apart from receiving the Dean’s List Award for three semesters, she had actively participated in various moot competitions. She won first runner-up in the Jessup Intercontinental Friendly Moot rounds on 8 March 2021, going against teams from Portugal, Latvia, France and other European countries. In August 2018, she was a quarterfinalist in the Asia Pacific Rounds of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Arbitration Moot held at Seoul National University. In November 2018, she mooted at University of Stockholm, Sweden for the global rounds of FDI Arbitration Moot.

At the national level, she won first runner-up in the Philip C. Jessup Moot Court Competition 2019, and received the Best Oralist and “Promising Speaker” awards for the same tournament in 2019 and 2020. She also won first place in the Novice Arbitration Mooting Competition (NAMCO) 2018 held at Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC). In 2019, she was a semi-finalist and top 10 oralists for the LawAsia Moot Competition.

Besides that, she has a profound interest for researching and writing. She is also passionate about civil litigation and was a student of YM Raja Dato’ Ahmad Mohzanuddin Shah Raja Mohzan under the special program called “Beyond the Classroom: Anatomy of Advanced Civil Practice Protocol & Advocacy” organized by UiTM. Her passion for advocacy also drives her interest to be involved in civil litigation.

She is currently part of our Litigation & Arbitration Practice Group 6 under the supervision of our Partner, Mohd Wafiy Azman.

Muhammad Akmal Md Yasin graduated from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) with a LL.B (Hons) in January 2021.

He has undergone three internships starting at the High Court of Seremban, Attorney General Chamber, Putrajaya and Messrs Nik Safia & Co. respectively. Throughout his internship at Messrs Nik Safia & Co., he was exposed mainly in conveyancing and general litigation matter such as assisting lawyer to prepare documents, liaising matters with clients and preparing research materials.

During his studies days, Akmal was actively participated in programs and events organized by the UUM law school. He was the Exco of Multimedia and Publicity for UUM Law Students’ Society 2017/2018 tenure and the Vice Director for the UUM Legal Delegation to Jogjakarta, Indonesia in 2017. He also was one of the players for UUM Ens Legis FC that had won the UKM Perundang Cup in 2018.

Vanessa Iskandar Ng graduated with 1st honours from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in 2020.

She was an avid mooter and represented UiTM in various moot competitions such as the first ICC-KLRCA Willem C. Vis Pre-Moot (2017), 12th LAWASIA International Moot Malaysia National Rounds (2017), 14th International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition (2017) and Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition (2019). She is also fluent in Mandarin.

In 2017, she and her team emerged as the champion in the 14th International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition and represented UiTM at the 16th Red Cross International Humanitarian Law Moot competition which took place at the University of Hong Kong. Her team also emerged as the first runner-up in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, National Rounds in 2019.

She did her internship at Izral Partnership in 2019, mainly assisting the partners and legal associates of the firm with research on various areas of law as well as transcribing and translating documents.

Vanessa is now part of the Litigation and Arbitration Practice Group under the supervision of the Partner, Melinda Marie D’Angelus.

Izzati Asyiqin Adzhar graduated from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) with a First Class LL.B (Hons) in 2019. Having a keen interest in corporate and commercial laws, she later pursued LL.M in Business Law in International Islamic University Malaysia and graduated in 2020 where she was awarded as the Best Student for Master of Laws programme session 2019/2020.

She was exposed mostly to corporate and commercial courses such as Mergers and Acquisition, Corporate Finance, Corporate Law, Commercial and Consumer Law, Securities Law, Taxation Law etc. She was also exposed to courses on Islamic Law contracts and transactions.  During her postgraduate studies, she wrote several research papers and case studies such as “Analysis on Taxation of Illegal Income in Malaysia, New Zealand and United Kingdom”, “Case Study on Declaration of Dividend of Lembaga Tabung Haji (LTH) and Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT)”, “Examining the Protection of Shareholders in Schemes of Arrangement and Compulsory Acquisition of Shares” and “Case Study: Boardroom Tussle in Protasco Berhad and Med-Bumikar Mara Sdn Bhd.”

During the tenure of the internship, she has explored mainly litigation and conveyancing work. She carried out several research tasks to help the partners to draft legal arguments in some ongoing cases. She was also taught to draft legal document in most litigation cases.

Mahadi grew up in Penang, Malaysia and attended the Hutchings Primary School and the Methodist Boys’ Secondary School. He then had his tertiary education in the United States of America and graduated from Brandeis University, Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) degree in 1976 under the Wien International Scholarship Program. After graduation, he worked for a commercial bank and a Nomura-affiliated investment bank and completed his Diploma in Banking from the Institute of Bankers, London in 1981. He graduated from the University of London with a LL.B. (Hons) degree in 1994 and completed his Certificate in Legal Practice, Malaysia in 2010. He has been admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.

He was in the service of PETRONAS, the national petroleum company of Malaysia, for 33 years and has broad experience in both the legal and commercial aspects of the Malaysian and international oil and gas industry, having held positions in the international marketing, corporate planning, finance, oil downstream planning and legal services divisions of PETRONAS.

Mahadi gained management insights and perspectives on, inter alia, corporate governance, human resource management, dispute management, incident management, construction and project management and the operations and maintenance of oil and gas assets whilst being the Company Secretary/Legal Advisor of PETRONAS Gas Berhad, a Malaysian public-listed company, and later as the PETRONAS shareholder nominee Director of Dragon LNG Ltd, a United Kingdom joint venture company which owns and operates a LNG regasification terminal in Milford Haven, Wales. Apart from projects in Malaysia and the UK, he has also experience in energy, oil, gas and petrochemical projects in Canada, Australia, Uzbekistan, Sudan, India, China, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia and other South-East Asian countries.

His main experience and expertise is in the Energy, Oil & Gas, Projects, Engineering & Construction and Joint Ventures practice areas, although due to his long career he is also familiar with the law relating to human resources management, companies and corporate governance, international trade and real estate.

Rohamina is a senior associate in the Global Financial Services and Islamic Banking Practice Group. She holds LL.B (Hons) from University of Reading, Certificate in Legal Practice and LL.M from King’s College London.

Rohamina joined Azmi & Associates as a legal intern and underwent her pupillage in the firm under the supervision of the Managing Partner. She was an Associate in the firm before joining Bursa Malaysia Berhad in April 2020.

Rohamina pursued her LLM in September 2020 and re-joined Azmi & Associates upon returning from London.

UMAR IZAT NUBLI read law at Universiti Teknologi MARA and graduated with a LL.B (Hons) in 2019.

He served as an intern at the Attorney General Chambers of Malaysia in 2017 and Messrs. Wong & Partners, a member firm of Baker & McKenzie International (Messrs. Wong & Partners) in 2019. He then commenced his pupillage in November 2019 at Messrs. Wong & Partners.
