Sofea Nabila graduated from the International University of Malaysia (IIUM) with a LL.B (Hons) in 2021.

She underwent her pupillage at Messrs Tawfeek Badjenid & Partners. During her period of pupillage, she had delved into conveyancing matters. She worked closely with the legal associates which involved drafting of legal documents and handling the process of transfer, discharge, perfection and gained significant exposure and experience on loan transactions for retail residential properties (both conventional and Islamic).

She was called to the Malaysian Bar and admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor in August 2023 where she began her legal career in Messrs San & Associates in managing the conveyancing process for a developer housing project in the sale of a portfolio of 100 units residential and commercial properties under Lembaga Perumahan Negeri Pulau Pinang and advising financial institutions in relation to the restructuring and refinancing exercises involving its retail clients. She was also entrusted in drafting wills and handling uncontested civil litigation matters particularly the application of probate and land administration matters.

In pursuit of further growth in the corporate world, she joined Azmi & Associates to venture into the realm of corporate practice in the future to explore any uncharted territory, venture and expand herself to create a broader horizon on her legal framework.

She is currently part of Financial Services Practice Group under the supervision of our Managing Partner, Ahmad Lutfi Abdull Mutalip.

Fazlyn Yu graduated from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) with a First-Class LL. B (Hons) in 2021.

She was attached to High Court Johor Bahru as a legal intern in 2020. She underwent her pupillage at our JB Office under the supervision of Partner, Syed Muhammad Ridza Syed Abdullah. During her pupillage, she was involved in conveyancing related matters and in the drafting of conveyancing agreements which consisted of sale and purchase agreements and loan agreements. She was also involved in corporate matters under supervision of our Partner, Mohd Zam Mustaman.

Having a keen interest in research and analysis, she pursued Master of Laws (LLM) in UITM and was awarded with the Excellent Candidate Award with a CGPA of 3.88. The core elective subjects that have been taken during the master’s degree are advanced company law, corporate insolvency law, Islamic banking and securities law, insurance law, shareholder remedies, and the law of electronic commerce.

Other than that, during her postgraduate studies, she joined the International Law Student Conference by submitting a research paper on the controversies and challenges of Islamic banking products: A Comparative Analysis between Bay Al Inah and Tawarruq.

Throughout her legal career, she has primarily focused on Conveyancing, Corporate & Commercial, and Banking & Finance matters. She also has in-house experience, where she was exposed to corporate practice and company secretarial work.

Currently, she is rejoining Azmi & Associates at Johor Bahru office under the continued mentorship of our Partner, Syed Muhammad Ridza Syed Abdullah.

Sharmaine Yap graduated from Queen’s University Belfast with a LL.B (Hons) in 2022 and earned her Certificate in Legal Practice in 2024.

Prior to her pupillage, she worked as a Corporate and Tax Paralegal for 14 months in RDS Partnership where she got to assist in various tasks and assignments, including assisting in due diligence exercises for M&A matters and preparation of bundles for tax litigation matters.

During her university days, she had also undergone internships in Shin Associates and Messrs Prem & Associates where she was exposed to multiple practice areas such as corporate, intellectual property, and general litigation.

Danial Azli graduated from the Bar Training Course at BPP University and was called to the Bar of England and Wales on the 28 November 2024 by the Honourable Society of the Lincoln’s Inn. He previously earned his LL.B (Hons) from Cardiff University in 2022 with a Second-Class Honours Division One.

He gained valuable experience as a Legal Intern at Azmi & Associates, where he conducted extensive legal research and supported various civil and commercial law matters. In Intellectual Property Law area, he conducted trademark searches and analyse search results to identify potential conflicts with existing trademarks.

During his academic journey, Danial was an active and committed student, serving as a Student Representative for Cardiff University’s School of Law and Politics and participating in sports prestigious events such as the British Universities & College Sports in Futsal where they became Runner-Up during that year. His extracurricular involvement also extended to organizing student activities, such as the BAC Games, and being a main cast member in the Festival of Diversity at Cardiff University.

Nur Farah Yasmin Md Nor

Farah Yasmin graduated with an LL.B (Hons.) First Class from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), where she was consistently recognised on the Dean’s List throughout her studies.

She is grateful to have received the Biasiswa Majlis Raja-Raja Scholarship, which supported her academic journey. At the 40th IIUM Convocation 2024, she was honoured with the Best Student Award in Professional Practice and named to the Rector’s List.

Farah’s academic journey was complemented by her participation in moot court competitions, which helped her develop her advocacy and analytical skills. Notable achievements include securing second runner-up at the Jessup International Law Moot Competition 2023 and being recognized as a Top 5 Best Oralist in Taylor’s Intervarsity Mooting Competition in 2022. She also had the privilege of serving as team captain for IIUM Team 1 at the 17th LAWASIA International Moot Competition.

In addition to her academic and mooting accomplishments, Farah values leadership and service. She served as the Head of the Legal Aid Bureau in the IIUM Legal Aid Club and as the Director of Training and Development for the IIUM Moots & Client Consultation Club, roles that allowed her to support her peers in mooting and contribute to her community. In her final year, she gained valuable experience in drafting agreements as the Head of Agreement and Contractual Affairs for the IIUM Student Union.

Farah completed internships with Chooi & Company in October 2023 and Shearn Delamore & Co. in February 2024, gaining valuable exposure to the legal field. She also served as a legal researcher for Thomas Philip Advocates & Solicitors, further honing her expertise in legal research. During her internships, she focused primarily on litigation, refining her skills in legal drafting. Additionally, Farah worked directly with the principal at Jaafar Law Office as a Litigation Paralegal for nearly six months. This role provided her with significant exposure to civil procedure and enhanced her proficiency in legal drafting.

Fadlin Khabir graduated from University of the West of England, Bristol with an LLB (Hons) in 2023.

He recently passed the Bar Training Course at University of the West of England, Bristol in 2024, where he is has been called as a Barrister of Law of the Lincoln’s Inn. He has learned and trained the UK law ways of litigation, advocacy and court processes where, he had also built proficiency in essential legal tasks, including research, drafting legal opinions, and preparing documents, while acquiring a solid understanding of subjects such as criminal, contract, and tort law.

He was also involved in extracurricular activities, serving as the Vice-Secretary for the Asian Law Students’ Association (INTI Chapter) (2021) at INTI University in Nilai, where he managed documentation, communication, and content creation. He also held the position of Prince Exco in the Student Representative Council (2018) at MRSM Pengkalan Chepa, where he oversaw the welfare of male students and organized events to recognize their achievements. These roles have strengthened his leadership, communication, and organizational skills, making him adaptable to the demands of a pupillage.

Megan Yap Sze Chyi

Megan Yap graduated from the University of London with an LL.B (Hons) (Second Class Upper Division) in 2022 and later obtained her Certificate in Legal Practice in 2024.

During her 10-month tenure as a paralegal at Messrs Rosli Dahlan & Saravana Partnership, Megan worked on corporate tax advisory matters and disputes involving income tax, real property gains tax, reinvestment allowance, customs and excise, and matters related to transfer pricing. She assisted in revising and updating chapters in Halsbury’s Laws of Malaysia on tax laws, ensuring accuracy and relevance through meticulous research.

Megan has actively combined her legal acumen with her dedication to public policy and youth advocacy. As a Parliamentary Fellow (Felo Parlimen) in 2021, she worked closely with prominent legislators such as YB Dato’ Sri Reezal Merican and YB Puan Michelle Ng, focusing on leadership, advocacy, and youth mental health policy. As a representative of Kota Melaka (P.138) in Parlimen Wanita Muda 2021, Megan contributed to research on domestic violence and advocated for reforms on suicide laws and mental health treatment in Malaysia under the guidance of Datuk Heng Seai Kie. Her background also includes significant involvement in policy and governance, where she organized Malaysia’s inaugural Mental Health Youth Conference in 2021 and participated as a Sirikandi in Undi18’s policy mentorship program, supported by the Canadian government.

Apart from her legal career, Megan has a keen interest in theology and is working towards obtaining her Certificate in Theology through Equip Gospel Ministries (a distance-learning program with Moore Theological College, Australia). Megan also enjoys exploring different cultures and languages and has acquired basic knowledge of German and American Sign Language.

Prior to commencing her pupillage at Azmi & Associates, she gained diverse legal experience through internships at various law firms. In 2024, she interned at Thomas Philip where she explored litigation work related to corporate and commercial law. She was trained with various tasks such as legal research and drafting legal documents. She was also given the opportunity to observe court trials. In 2023, she completed her internship with Tay & Partners, where she was exposed to litigation, corporate, and intellectual property work. She also gained experience in conveyancing, including document review and land title assessments.

She gained valuable insight through mooting during her university days and internships. She also actively participated in various pro bono activities where she was exposed to Employment, Housing and Family Law respectively. She was able to enhance her practical and theoretical knowledge of the law. Additionally, she had the unique opportunity to marshal with judges, including His Honour Sean Enright at Peterborough; His Honour Timothy Smith at Manchester and District Judge Franklin St. Clair Melville Evans at Peterborough, observing criminal and civil trials from the bench.

Dhina Dharshan Ganesan

Dhina Dharshan graduated with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours (LL.B) from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2024 and is currently pursuing a Master of Laws (LL.M) at UKM.

During his academic years, he was recognised for his strong advocacy and research skills and actively participated in moot court competitions throughout his studies. He represented UKM as an oralist in six notable competitions, including Malaysia’s Next Advocate 2024, the ASEAN Moot Court Competition 2023, the Nuremberg Moot Court Competition 2023, the 19th Malaysian International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition 2022, the Novice Arbitration Mooting Competition (NAMCO) 2021, and the 3rd Dato Hanif Hassan E-Moot Court Competition 2021. Dharshan continues to mentor aspiring law students in various competitions, contributing to the achievement of significant awards.

Dharshan’s legal experience spans general litigation and corporate law, gained through a series of impactful internships. He completed a three-month internship with Rosli Dahlan Saravana Partnership (RDS) in 2023, followed by an internship with Ariff Rozhan & Co (ARC) in early 2024, and a one-month return internship at RDS. His involvement in the legal field also extends to research, having served as a Research Assistant for the Special Committee on Amendments to the Trustees (Incorporation) Act 1952 [ACT 258] in 2024, Graduate Research Assistant for the Committee for Drafting a Regulatory Framework for the Alcohol Industry in Malaysia in 2025, and as a Research Assistant for the Articled Clerkship Task Force under Legal Profession Qualifying Board in 2026.

Dharshan has also contributed to the legal field through scholarly writing, with articles published in Journal of Posthumanism and Journal Veredas Do Direito on regulations concerning the sale and consumption of alcohol in Malaysia. He was recently awarded the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Integrating Forensic Entomology into Modern Justice System.

Dharshan joined Azmi & Associates’ Penang Office in November 2024 as a Trainee Solicitor and was called to the Bar on 7 November 2025. He subsequently joined the firm as an Associate in the Penang Office, where he practices in General Litigation.

Pugalanthyi Pillai A/L Vedikaran

Pugalanthyi recently completed his BPTC and master’s degree in Company Law and Compliance, and Corporate Governance in Practice with Distinction in 2024. Prior to this, he graduated from the University of Leeds with an LLB (Hons) in 2023, achieving an upper second-class degree.

In July 2024, he served as a Marshal under His Honour Judge Stephen Brown in Sheffield, where he gained valuable insights into family law. He observed a case involving the application of Section 8 of the Children Act 1989 and had the opportunity to engage in discussions with the judge on its practical implications. Additionally, he completed an internship with Lim Hong Nian & Co in August 2022. During his tenure, he contributed to the preparation of property conveyance documentation and honed his skills in drafting Wills and Trusts.

He demonstrated a well-rounded approach to his academic journey, actively participating in extracurricular and volunteer activities. As a member of the Leeds Sports Society, he engaged in touch rugby and table tennis. He also volunteered to organise the football event during the Leeds Winter Games. Beyond academics and activities, he has a keen interest in non-fiction, particularly finance-related literature.
