Chew Zhi Ning graduated from the University of Liverpool with an LL.B (Hons) (First Class Honours) in 2023. She then pursued her Bar Practice Course at the University of Law, Leeds Campus and was called to the Bar of England and Wales by The Honourable Society of Middle Temple in July 2024.
Beyond her academic endeavours, she has undergone a judicial internship at the Federal Court of Malaysia under YA Tan Sri Datuk Nallini Pathmanathan in September 2024. She also completed a mini-pupillage at Enterprise Chambers, Leeds in May 2024 where she assisted in drafting Particulars of Claim against the tenant’s guarantor for rent arrears due to the company’s insolvent. Besides, she worked as a legal intern at Christopher and Lee Ong in August 2023 and at Lee Hishamuddin Allen and Gledhill (LHAG) in June 2022. During the tenure of her internships, she explored various practice areas of law, including corporate, civil litigation, and the employment industry, honing her research and concise legal writing skills.
During her varsity days, Zhi Ning participated in a plea in mitigation competition to sharpen her legal argument and advocacy skills. As a student advisor at Liverpool’s Law Clinic, she assisted clients with immigration status and visa applications. Alongside her role as a university ambassador where she led campus tours for prospective students, she also served as the Assistant Vice President of ALSA Malaysia’s Human Capital Department and actively organised events and activities for the society’s members.
She has a passion in Corporate and Commercial law, as well as Mergers and Acquisitions. Her Master is our Partner, Miss Moo Eng Thing. Some of Zhi Ning’s assignments are as follows:
• Assisted in drafting a construction agreement for the Project Green Ecological Garden, ensuring compliance with legal standards and client objectives
• Assisted in the transfer of shares process between two foreign companies and prepare the relevant documents
• Conducted legal due diligence for projects involving company acquisitions and project acquisitions
• Conducted legal research on mechanisms for PETRONAS to secure land rights for the Nature Based Solution (NBS) Projects in Terengganu and Johor
• Conducted legal research on various fields of law, namely general corporate law issues, commercial law, land law and corporate governance
• Conducted legal research on the incorporation of Malaysian companies, including Labuan companies and the process of obtaining relevant licenses and work permit
• Co-wrote an article titled “Valuation Methodologies for M&A Transaction in Malaysia’
