Lee Jie Zing

Lee Jie Zing graduated from the University of Liverpool with a Second Class (Upper Division) LL.B (Hons) in 2021.

She subsequently completed the Bar Training Course (BTC) and Master of Laws (LLM) with Distinction at BPP University and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2022 by the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn.

During her time in Liverpool, she worked as a part-time legal assistant in YV Legal a start-up immigration law firm, where she experienced the process of filling out asylum cases and drafting further submissions. In September 2020, she has also undergone an internship with Dinesh Muthal & Co. During the tenure of the internship, she mainly explored criminal litigation work, where she was trained to write succinctly whilst carrying out research tasks on high-profile cases.

She is a student member who actively participated in the qualifying sessions organized by the Lincoln’s Inn, including legal research training, advocacy workshops and case analysis & ethics sessions. Further, she also enjoys participating in voluntary work for example, she was a volunteer with the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS), a Project Leader of the University of Liverpool’s Green Finger Project and a student volunteer for Wirral Mencap, a local charity who supports people with learning disabilities. Additionally, she completed her mediation training in October 2022 and is now an ADR ODR-accredited Civil/Commercial Mediator. She has a great passion for Maritime and Admiralty Law.

Laura Yew Quo Jane graduated from University of Birmingham with a Second Class (Upper Division) LL.B (Hons) in 2021.

She was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales (Middle Temple) upon completion of the Barrister Vocational Course at City, University of London in 2022.

Before commencing her pupillage at Azmi & Associates, she had undergone legal internship with Hannah Yew, Wong & Partners in 2019 where she has gained exposure in conveyancing. During the pandemic, she had also participated in a virtual internship with Christopher and Lee Ong where she had worked on Real Estate Law, Corporate Law, Intellectual Property Law and Employment Law. She was also given insights on White Collar Crime, Banking and Finance, Maritime and Shipping Law, Digital/Electronic Signatures Legislation, and Civil Disputes.

She has actively participated in various events and co-curricular activities as her passion is to serve the people in her community. She was the President of the Youth Ministry of Chin Hock Methodist Church, Sitiawan (2022). During her undergraduate days in University of Birmingham, she was a panelist of the GenCorporate ‘The Game Changers: UK Univeristy & CareerPrep’ Event (2021), a volunteer of the Pro Bono Group (2021), a student mentor for the Birmingham Law School (2021), the public debate sub-committee of the Debating Society (2021), the group leader of the Christian Union (2021) and the Secretary of the Malaysian Society (2020).

Fatin Nazihah Abdul Razak

Fatin Nazihah Abdul Razak graduated from Universiti Malaya with a LL.B (Hons) in 2022.

She had the opportunity to undergo an internship with PETRONAS under Group Legal, in Legal Compliance Department specializing in Sanctions and Export Control in August 2022. Throughout the internship, she had the chance to assist in drafting policies, engaging with professionals of different fields including assisting her supervisor in managing an Export Control Project alongside with external foreign solicitors from the United States. Apart from doing substantial research on various matters, she was also actively involved in drafting the guidelines on sanctions compliance relating to logistics and shipping industry.

Fatin Nazihah was an active student in both academics and extra-curricular activities. In the third year of her studies, she held the position of Vice-Director of Community Outreach Programme – a student-lead society under the UM’s Faculty of Law that focuses on educating the marginalized communities about basic laws through interactive teaching and learning method. She also represented UM’s Faculty of Law to participate in Access to Justice Week and Regional CLE Mock Trial Workshop 2019 at Uniserv, Chiang Mai University, Thailand. On top of that, Fatin was selected as a delegate to Universitas Indonesia for the Street Law Student Exchange Programme in 2020.

Besides that, Fatin Nazihah is also an active volunteer outside the varsity. She volunteered as a tutor at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Tampoi where she helped teach orang asli students. She also volunteered with Rumah Kita which provides temporary housing, nourishment, pre- and post-natal care for young women.

Her field of interest is in Corporate and Commercial Law, as well as Banking and Finance. Building on this interest, she aspires to venture into the realms of corporate practice in the future.

Muzzammil Ahmad Maher

Muzzammil Ahmad Maher graduated from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) with a LL. B (Hons) in 2022.

He was attached to Abdul Halim Saifuddin & Associates, a legal firm in his hometown, Kangar, Perlis. During the tenure of the attachment program, he was placed in the litigation department where the focus area of law he handled is banking litigation. He was trained to draft cause papers including bankruptcy notice and creditors petition. Apart from that, he was exposed to other area of laws such as Criminal, Conveyancing and Shariah.

During his varsity life, he was an active student participating events organized by IIUM and others. He participated in Ahmad Ibrahim Internal Moot Competition (2019) during his first year of law school. He was actively involved in secretarial works as he was appointed as Assistant Secretary of Welfare Secretariat of AIKOL Law Society (2020) and an Officer to the Academic and Activities division of Asian Law Students Association (ALSA) IIUM (2021).

Apart from that, having been involved in these societies provided the opportunities for him to manage various programs such as ALSA Malaysian Conference (AMOC), Webinar: Mental Health & Coping in the Midst of Quarantine/Online Learning and Gavelcast (Legal Podcast).

Khaliesah Yusri Kamaruzaman

Khaliesah Yusri Kamaruzaman graduated from the University of Malaya with LL. B (Hons) (2nd Class Upper) in 2022.

During her university days, she has undergone an internship at Zain Megat & Murad in 2021. During the tenure of the internship, she has mainly explored litigation and conveyancing work. She was tasked with legal research, writing letters of advice to clients, and preparing documents for sale and purchase agreements and transfers.

She has various interests including graphics design which she was involved in Publicity and Media for Turtle Run (2019). Further, she has an interest in volunteer work, such as participating in Kursus Asas Sukarelawan, University of Malaya (2018) and was a facilitator of a program in collaboration with YATIM (2019). She was also a tutor at KUMON (2017).

Jeremy Pang Jing Yang

Jeremy Pang Jing Yang obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Law (Honours) from the University of Malaya (UM) in 2022.

As a previous intern at Messrs. Tan & Siah in July 2021, he gathered much exposure in real estate and conveyancing works, during which time he also assisted in the drafting of Sale and purchase Agreements (SPA) and Tenancy Agreements. He was also tasked to prepare the National Land Code forms for the purpose of registration of transfer, charge and the lodging of caveat. On top of these responsibilities, he was also well trained in the preparation of Letter to Advise Release Facilities and the relevant checklists before the financier may proceed with the release of the loan.

During his undergraduate studies, Jeremy was actively involved in numerous co-curricular activities. As a highlight, he was the student advisor of the UM Legal Aid Clinic in 2021. As a student advisor, he was responsible to prepare legal advice that outline possible solutions and the strength of each case.

Given his passion and expertise in information technology, Jeremy also chaired various positions related to technology and multimedia. For instance, he was the Publicity & Technical Administrator of the Jessup Asia Pacific Regional Rounds in 2021, Head of the Publicity and Publication Bureau of the 2019/2020 Asian Law Students’ Association UM Chapter, Head of the Registration Department of Neon Run UM, and the Publicity Bureau Member of the 2018/2019 UM Moot Club. During the Movement Control Order (MCO), he supervised the media production of two local churches, including the setting up of a live stream system and providing regular electronic system training at both churches.

Jeremy joined Azmi & Associates in October 2022 and is currently part of the Projects practice group under the supervision of our Co-Deputy Managing Partner, Zuhaidi Mohd Shahari.

Nurul Izzah Huda Romli

Nurul Izzah Huda Romli read law at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She graduated with a First Class Honours and was the recipient of the Rector’s List Award in 2022.

Izzah Huda completed her internship with Messrs Nadiah Sharifudin & Co. where she obtained hands-on experience mainly in conveyancing and litigation work which includes drafting legal documents and conducting legal research.

Throughout her academic days, Izzah Huda maintained her academic achievements while participating actively in extracurricular activities at national and university levels. She was appointed as the Director of Academic and Activities Department for Asian Law Students’ Association (ALSA). During her tenure, she directed and organised the ALSA Malaysia Online Conference, a series of legal podcasts and webinars.

Izzah Huda also actively contributed to the IIUM Law Society as the Co-Chairperson of Welfare Secretariat. She was responsible to manage and oversee the overall running of webinars and free food project for the university community. She represented IIUM in the KL Bar-Lincoln’s Inn Alumni Association of Malaysia e-Moot Court Competition and became the Semifinalist. She gave back to the society by participating as volunteer trainer in community development for The SPOT Community Project among Malaysian school students.

She was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in September 2023.

Annie Lee Ann Li graduated from the University of Leeds with a Second Class (Upper Division) LL.B (Hons) in 2020. She was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales (Middle Temple) upon the completion of the Barrister Training Course at BPP University (Manchester) in 2022.

Before commencing her pupillage at Azmi & Associates, she had undergone legal internship with Messrs. Valerie Chong & Co where she was exposed to various conveyancing and litigation matters. She was trained to conduct research on wide issues of law, draft will and probate, assist in the application of trademark registration and liaise with associates in drafting cause papers and documents.

During her study days, she was an active student who participated in various events. She was a member of Sunway A-level Student Council (2017) where she was tasked to plan and organize events for A-levels students. Besides, she was also one of the event management executives for Asia Leadership Conference 2017 at Sunway University where she engaged in the event preparations. Further, she was a member of Law Ball Committee at HELP University (2018) and she was also actively involved in the events organized by the Malaysian and Singaporean Society of the University of Leeds.

Nik Amalia Suraya Nik Muhammad Saifuddin graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) in 2022 from the International Islamic University Malaysia and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in September 2023.

Her journey in the field of law officially began with an internship in 2021 at Messrs Salehuddin Saidin & Associates, where she primarily focused on the Criminal Defence Division assisting matters involving white collar crimes, anti-money laundering, sexual offences, and capital offences.

In 2022, she joined Azmi & Associates as a Trainee Solicitor for her pupillage where she assisted in numerous litigation matters and made significant contributions that resulted in favorable outcomes for her clients including obtaining an Order for Recognition and Enforcement of an Arbitral Award following the dismissal of a Setting Aside application by the counterparty, as well as obtaining a judgment in favor of a taxpayer in a tax appeal before the Special Commissioners of Income Tax (SCIT) for the alleged non-deductible expenses in the sum of RM 850,000.00.

Upon completion of pupillage, she was further retained as an Associate under the leadership of our Partner, Abu Daud Abd Rahim in the Litigation, Arbitration, & Dispute Resolution Practice Group that specializes in various aspects of general and civil litigation, with a particular focus on contractual and tort claims, tax law, medical law, corporate law, construction law, land law, estate and administration matters, and execution proceedings.

She is also a recipient of the Best Student (Academic) Award, Best Student for Company Law, and Best Student for Professional Practice Award from her university.

Previously, she has ventured into internships and legal attachment programmes in two law firms. In 2021, she had undergone her internship with Azmi & Associates where she assisted two departments namely, Litigation, Arbitration and Dispute resolution Department and Corporate and Commercial Department. Meanwhile, in 2018 she was attached with Syed Faisal & Co in Johor Bahru she was involved with litigation.

During her university days, she was also involved and led her teammates in various competitions and events. In 2021, she was a semifinalist for the (KL Bar-LIAAM) e-Moot Court Competition 2021. In 2019, she had also represented IIUM in the Harun M. Hashim National Client Consultation Competition in 2019 and in the International Humanitarian Law Role-Play Competition. She is also active in leading IIUM organizations where she had served as a board member for IIUM Moots and Client Consultation Club as the Vice President for Client Consultation and the Vice Secretary for two consecutive years.
