Azmi & Associates is pleased to announce that our Senior Partner, Dato’ Azmi Mohd Ali, has been recognised as a Senior Statesman for Corporate and M&A in the Asialaw 2026 Rankings.
This marks his third consecutive year receiving this recognition, following his initial recognition in 2024. The Senior Statesman distinction honours distinguished legal practitioners with a proven track record of excellence, leadership and significant contributions to the legal profession.
With more than 35 years of legal experience, Dato’ Azmi has advised on a broad range of significant domestic and cross-border transactions, with particular expertise in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, project finance, privatisation, energy, oil and gas, and foreign investments.
Over the years, Dato’ Azmi has received numerous notable industry accolades, including:

Beyond his legal practice, Dato’ Azmi has made significant contributions to the wider business, legal and academic communities. He served as a Director of TerraLex, a global network of independent law firms, for seven years and currently sits on the boards of Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad and Worldwide Holdings Berhad. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at Universiti Utara Malaysia, having previously held academic appointments at the International Islamic University of Malaysia and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, as well as directorships at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan and Yayasan Putra Business School.
He currently serves as one of the 16 elected Bar Councillors for the 2026–2027 term, further demonstrating his continued commitment to advancing the Malaysian legal profession.
