Hands-On Corporate & Commercial Law Workshop by Senior Partner with Universiti Malaya

On 15 & 16 May 2026, Azmi & Associates, in collaboration with the Faculty of Law, University of Malaya, organised a hands-on workshop on Corporate & Commercial Law conducted by our Senior Partner, Dato’ Azmi Mohd Ali. The session brought together more than 120 final year law students for an engaging and practical learning experience aimed at exposing students to real industry perspectives and legal practice.

Throughout the 1 1/2 day workshop, participants were divided into 32 teams and assigned 32 different topics by Dato’ Azmi covering a wide range of practical legal issues typically advised by lawyers and dealt with by inhouse counsels. The topics included Corporate Law & Governance, Corporate Finance, Projects & Infrastructure, Corporate Real Estate, as well as Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) related matters.

The session encouraged students to analyse legal and commercial considerations beyond textbooks while developing practical problem-solving and presentation skills.

This initiative forms part of our continuous effort to bridge the gap between the legal industry and law students by providing greater exposure to practical legal work and industry expectations. We believe that meaningful engagement between practitioners and students is essential in preparing future lawyers to navigate the evolving legal and business landscape with confidence and commercial awareness.

This marks the third workshop of its kind conducted by Dato’ Azmi with the support of the firm, following similar sessions previously held with law students from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

At Azmi & Associates, sharing knowledge and experience with the legal community, particularly aspiring young lawyers, remains an important part of our culture and contribution towards building a stronger and more industry-connected legal profession.
