Marina graduated from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) with a Second Class (Upper Division) LL.B (Hons) in 2021.
She was attached to Mahkamah Tinggi Shah Alam in January 2020 as a legal intern, in which she was exposed to managing the relevant cause papers and documents filed by litigants as well as having the opportunities in closely observing civil and criminal hearings and trials conducted by the Registrars and Judges.
During her final year, she completed the 10 sessions of “Anatomy of Advanced Civil Practice Protocol & Advocacy”, a special 30 hours course conducted by YM Dato’ Raja Ahmad Mohzanuddin Shah. This course had developed her interest in civil litigation.
She was called to the Malaysian Bar and admitted to the roll of Advocates and Solicitors in April 2023. She is currently part of our Litigation & Arbitration Practice Group 6 under the supervision of our Partner, Mohd Wafiy Azman.
To date, some of Marina’s significant assignments, include:
• Assisted in representing a state-owned company from Perak at the Court of Appeal, succesfully overturning a High Court decision involving damages amounting to RM14.5million.
• Assisted in recovering an Islamic Financing Facility exceeding RM100 million on behalf of a local financial institution.
• Assisted in preparing legal advice for a government agency to terminate Sale and Purchase Agreements with over 100 Purchasers and to explore the option of a Scheme of Arrangement for claims for Liquidates Ascertained Damages (LAD) exceeding RM104 million.
• Assisted in providing comprehensive legal advice on a range of issues, including statutory interpretation, contract terms, land matters, scheme of arrangement, and execution and enforcement proceedings.
• Assisted in representing a wholly owned subsidiary of the Kelantan State Economic Development Corporation in obtaining a Fortuna Injunction to prevent the presentation of a winding-up petition pending the disposal of a Judicial Review Application at the Federal Court.
