Azmi & Associates’ young lawyers namely Ammera Hadi, Zuraidi Zulkifli, Umar Izat, Raja Zulqarnain, Gabrielle Lim,  Natasha Jayasinghe, Hashima Edhan, Nik Amalia, Wong Yan Zhang and Lee Jie Zing attended the NYLPC Soirée (Lecture and Dinner) 2024 held on 26 January 2024.

The event was organized by the National Young Lawyers and Pupils Committee (“NYLPC”) of the Malaysian Bar with the aim of replicating the “12 dinners” (now known as the Qualifying Sessions conducted by the English Inns of Court). Our Ammera Hadi and Yan Zhang are committee members of the NYLPC. Ammera Hadi is also part of the organizing committee for the event.

The event began with a lecture by the retired judge of the Court of Appeal of Malaysia, Datuk Darryl S C Goon titled “Perspective from the Bench: Advocacy Skills and Professional Ethics of Lawyers”. The lecture gave our young lawyers new perspectives on crucial aspects of written and oral advocacy with the aim of assisting judges in the determination of cases. As part of the purpose of the event, our young lawyers were seated with esteemed members of the judiciary and senior members of the Bar with whom they had the pleasure of enjoying a 3-course meal.

After the dinner, our young lawyers were also able to converse with other invited guests and participants. Through a more social setting, our young lawyers were given the opportunity to converse with the esteemed members of the judiciary and senior members of the Bar in a way unlike any other and obtain valuable insights to better equip themselves in the legal field.

Overall, the event provided our young lawyers with invaluable insights which they will be able to utilize in the future.
