On the 24th and 25th of May 2025, our Senior Partner, Dato’ Azmi Mohd Ali, conducted a two-day Practical Corporate Law Workshop for the law students of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) at the UUM campus in Sintok, Kedah.
This initiative was first conceived by Dato’ Azmi over half a year ago, when he shared his idea with the UUM Law School. With strong support from the faculty, the idea took shape, marking the first time such a program had been organised at a local university. The workshop was designed to equip final-year law students with practical exposure to corporate legal work and help them prepare for the transition into the job market.
Despite his demanding schedule, Dato’ Azmi graciously led the workshop pro bono and supported by two of our trainee lawyers, Nur Eezah Md Kamal and Farah Yasmin Md Nor who assisted throughout the sessions.
Dato’ Azmi personally selected 30 key corporate law topics for the workshop. Divided into 30 groups, each group was assigned a topic in advance to prepare and present during the sessions. The presentations were followed by direct feedback, reviews, and interactive discussions with, and commentaries by Dato’ Azmi himself.
Dato’ Azmi’s involvement as an Adjunct Professor at the School of Law, UUM reflects his ongoing commitment to supporting the academic and professional development of young legal minds. He intends to bring similar workshop to other local universities where he is actively involved with.
We thank UUM for the opportunity to be part of this meaningful and impactful program.
