We are pleased to announce that Azmi & Associates successfully represented Tenaga Nasional Berhad (“TNB“) in obtaining a summary judgment amounting to RM1.005 million against Cenmal Commercial Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Country Heights Venture Sdn Bhd and Mines Cruise Sdn Bhd.

The judgment, granted by Judicial Commissioner Gan Techiong, highlights the significant arrears owed to TNB since October 18, 2023. This legal action stemmed from TNB’s application on June 19, 2024, to recover overdue payments. The court also awarded 5% interest on the judgment sum until full settlement, along with RM5,000 in legal costs.

The case originated from TNB’s efforts to collect outstanding electricity charges from Cenmal Commercial, which owns the Capital O Unicorn Hotel (formerly Nouvelle Hotel) in Sungai Besi. Despite a consent judgment reached in May 2022, where the defendant agreed to a payment plan, Cenmal Commercial failed to comply, necessitating further legal action by TNB.
