The invited distinguished keynote speaker is no other than Dato Sri Chan Sek Keong, who served as the Chief Justice of Singapore for the period of 2006 to 2012.

Dato Sri Sek Keong, originally from Ipoh, pursued his early education at Anderson School Ipoh right until his HSC. His remarkable legal career began with studying law at the University of Malaya in Singapore from 1957 to 1961. Following his studies, he practiced law in Malaya and then Singapore, eventually being appointed Judicial Commissioner in 1986 and then elevated to the High Court of Singapore in 1988 until he ascended to the position of Chief Justice of Singapore in 2006.

For the 13th Tun Suffian Memorial Lecture, Dato Sri Chan Sek Keong will deliver a keynote speech titled, “Their Law in Our Hands – The Application of English Law Act 1993 (Singapore): Are there lessons for the Civil Law Act 1956 (Malaysia)?”. His vast legal expertise and pivotal role in shaping the judiciary in Singapore make his insights particularly valuable.

Dato Sri Chan Sek Keong was conferred his award carrying the title of Dato Sri by the Royal Highness Sultan of Perak.
