On 14 February 2026, Azmi & Associates had the privilege of attending a sharing session organised by Yayasan Tan Sri Profesor Ahmad Ibrahim, titled ‘Passing the Torch: Benchside Chats with Dato’ Mary Lim’.

Representing the Firm were Senior Associate Tengku Nazmi Tengku Anuar and Associate Amirrul Eiman (Po) who joined fellow members of the Bar for an engaging and insightful morning.

Dato’ Mary Lim Thiam Suan, a distinguished figure in the Malaysian judiciary, spoke candidly about her professional journey. From her early years in litigation as a Federal Counsel and later a Senior Federal Counsel, to her elevation to the Bench and eventual tenure as a Judge of the Federal Court of Malaysia, her reflections offered invaluable perspective. She also shared insights into her post retirement role as President of the AIAC Court of Arbitration and her recent appointment as a Judge of the Dubai International Financial Centre Courts.

The session offered young practitioners a rare and invaluable glimpse into the realities of legal practice and judicial service. Her reflections on perseverance, integrity and dedication to the law were both remarkable and deeply inspiring.
