Public Advisory: Beware of Impersonation Scams

Azmi & Associates wishes to alert the public to a scam involving an individual who is impersonating as a lawyer from our firm and offering legal services under the name of our firm. The individual has been distributing a business card bearing a falsified version of our firm’s logo and our former Penang office address.

We confirm that there is NO lawyer by the name of Hafis Amyrul b Rahim is employed or associated with Azmi & Associates.

Upon our management being made aware of the matter, we had contacted the member of the public who had engaged with the scammer. This lady had unfortunately fallen victim to the scam and had made a payment to a bank account provided by the scammer.

Our management advised the victim to lodge a police report and to immediately notify the relevant bank where an account was used by the scammer to receive the scammed money, with a request to freeze the account for investigation.

We urge members of the public to exercise caution and verify the identity and credentials of any person claiming to represent Azmi & Associates before engaging their services or making any payment.

If you receive any suspicious communication or encounter anyone claiming to be from our firm under questionable circumstances, please contact us directly through our official channels for verification.

Please share this advisory to help prevent others from falling victim to similar scams.

We will also lodge a police report.
