Ridhwan Rosnan was called to the Malaysian Bar and admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor in 2015.
He holds an LL.M (Distinction) from Universiti Teknologi MARA, specialising in the Law of the Sea and Admiralty Law, an LL.B (Hons) from Multimedia University, and a Diploma in Shariah Legal Practice (DSLP) from the International Islamic University Malaysia.
He is also a qualified Syarie Lawyer for the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan, and regularly appears as counsel before the Shariah Courts in a broad range of contentious matters.
Prior to joining Azmi & Associates, Ridhwan was a Partner in the Litigation Practice at one of Malaysia’s premier law firms. He was nominated for Young Lawyer of the Year at the 13th Annual ALB Malaysia Law Awards 2026. His professional standing is further reflected by his consistent recognition in the Legal 500 Asia Pacific, where he was ranked as a Recommended Lawyer for Dispute Resolution in the Legal 500 Asia Pacific Guides 2025 and 2026.
Ridhwan’s areas of specialization encompass general civil litigation and shariah litigation. He has extensive experience in commercial litigation, insolvency and restructuring, shipping and maritime, aviation, regulatory disputes, occupational safety, quasi-criminal proceedings and Shariah litigation. His practice reflects a broad range of contentious work, underpinned by deep expertise in handling complex and high-stakes disputes across multiple sectors.
During the tenure of his career, Ridhwan has acted as counsel or co-counsel in amongst others, the following cases:
• Successfully securing the discharge and acquittal of a national sewerage services company in proceedings under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994.
• Successfully defending a national airline before the Court of Appeal in a complex tenancy dispute involving a four-tier tenancy structure and competing contractual obligations.
• Successfully resisting judicial review proceedings brought against a statutory regulator concerning the implementation of the Water Services Industry (Water Reticulation and Plumbing) Rules 2014.
• Successfully obtaining leave from the Court of Appeal to adduce fresh evidence in a high-value corporate dispute involving multiple commercial agreements.
In addition to these notable matters Ridhwan has advised and acted in numerous disputes involving:

• Maritime collision claims;
• Shipbuilding disputes;
• Aviation regulatory matters;
• Corporate insolvency;
• Environmental compliance; and
• Occupational health and safety.
