SHARDHA LIM YUET YING graduated from Queen’s University Belfast with a LLB (Hons) in 2017.
She was called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn and attained a Masters in Legal Practice in 2018. She was called to the Malaysian Bar and admitted to the roll of Advocates and Solicitors in August 2020.
During her studies in the UK, she was an active volunteer in the Bristol Employment Tribunal Service and the Bristol Law Centre where she served as an Administrator in the Welfare and Benefits department. She also received guidance and mentorship under His Honour Judge Neil Bidder QC and Leslie Blohm QC in which she had the opportunity to undertake Marshalling duties in both the Cardiff and Bristol Crown Courts. Before leaving the UK, she gained work experience in a legal services firm, Lyons Davidson Solicitors, Bristol for 3 months.
She joined Azmi & Associates in July 2019 to undertake pupillage under the tutelage of Farah Nadiah Zainudin where she provided assistance in the corporate and litigation departments. In September 2020, she joined the Mergers & Acquisitions, Corporate Practice Group under the supervision of our Partner, Jonathan Law Ngee Song.
Some of Shardha’s notable assignments to date are as follows:
• Conducted legal due diligence and verification on documents in relation to a share consolidation exercise for Perak Transit Berhad, a company listed on the Main Market in Bursa Malaysia.
• Conducted legal due diligence and verification on documents in relation to a bonus issue of free warrants exercise for Perak Transit Berhad, a company listed on the Main Market in Bursa Malaysia.
• Conducted legal due diligence and verification on documents in relation to a bonus issue of shares and warrants exercise for BP Plastics Holding Bhd, a company listed on the Main Market in Bursa Malaysia.
• Conducted legal due diligence on Pitahaya (M) Sdn Bhd and its parties acting in concert and verification of documents in relation to the unconditional mandatory takeover offer to acquire all remaining ordinary shares in Pimpinan Ehsan Berhad, a company listed on the Main Market in Bursa Malaysia.
• Conducted legal due diligence in connection with the proposed acquisition of shares in solar power providers with solar power plants located in Perlis and Terengganu.
• Represented a Kuala Lumpur based boutique property developer in the High Court of Malaya at Kuala Lumpur (Commercial Division) in which leave was successfully obtained to conduct share capital reduction pursuant to Section 116 of the Companies Act 2016.
• Assisted in a dispute settlement between a Gibraltar based global healthcare trading company and a Malaysian rubber product manufacturer.
• Assisted US based attorneys, Nixon Peabody LLP, in relation to an investigation initiated by the US Department of Justice on a Malaysian rubber product manufacturer.
• Successfully applied for the grant of Letter of Administration for the appointment of an Administrator on a deceased’s estate from the High Court of Malaya at Kuala Lumpur.
• Assisted in the conveyance of multiple properties as part of a debt restructuring exercise for a rubber product manufacturer that was previously listed on the Main Market in Bursa Malaysia
