Gabrielle Lim Wai Yee graduated from the University of Leeds with Second Class (Upper Division) LL. B (Hons) in 2020. She was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales in 2021 and also completed her LL.M in Legal Practice with Merit from BPP University in 2022.
She researched the challenges faced by legal practitioners in the UK in establishing and defending drug cases when relying on the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
She has undergone an internship with Adnan, Sundra and Low in 2019 where she gained experience and knowledge in banking and finance law. She was assigned to assist an associate in the due diligence process for the client. During the pandemic, she participated in a virtual student experience provided by the Chartered Institute of Arbitration in 2021 where she was tasked to prepare arbitration clauses and notes for client advising. Besides, she also participated in the Law and Advocacy Virtual Experience provided by the Capital Punishment Justice Project in 2022 where she was tasked to prepare a speech advocating for the need for a total abolishment of capital punishment as well as drafting a newsletter regarding the effectiveness of the mutual assistant agreement between Australia and Japan.
She dedicated her time in university participating in various events. She participated in the Novice Arbitration Moot Competition (2019) and Taylor’s Inaugural Moot Competition (2019). She was also an active member of the Asian Law Student Association (ALSA) of Taylor’s University. She was the Sponsorship Director for ALSA Taylor’s between 2017 to 2018 when she sought sponsorships for the ALSA National Legal Training Workshop 2018. Later, she was the President of ALSA Taylor’s between 2018 and 2019 and she led her team in hosting the ALSA National Conference 2019. Additionally, she was a volunteer tutor for refugee children during the weekend with Taylor’s Leo Club. She was also an active member of the Malaysian and Singaporean Society of the University of Leeds where she participated in the MASSOC Games as a netball player.
