AZMI & ASSOCIATES OPENS UP A BRANCH OFFICE IN JOHOR BAHRU
Azmi & Associates’ expansion in Johor Bahru on the 14th of November 2008 is set for a better client reach to cater for the economic growth under the development in the Southern Johor Economic Region, one of the most important and ambitious components of the Ninth Malaysia Plan. The event was officiated by Y.B. Dr. Haji Mohd Puad Zarkashi (Member of Parliament, Batu Pahat) at the M Suites Hotel, Johor Bahru.
WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH …
The globalisation of business and commerce will invariably affect the legal and services sector. The Malaysian Government has emphasised time and again that the services sector must prepare for the oncoming onslaught of foreign service providers as Malaysia opens its markets to competition from abroad. As part of this trend to increase competitiveness, we have seen consolidation in the banking sector, and the creation of the largest oil palm plantation company in the world.
Malaysia and the rest of the countries all over the world are at present facing the current quagmire in the global markets. Although Malaysian Business magazine’s 2008 survey of the top 100 listed companies by turnover reflects that their shared profits have increased 50% compared to the preceding survey, nevertheless, these companies may be undergoing a tough time this year owing to the continuing financial catastrophe in the US and Europe, which is expected to accelerate economic recession.
… THE TOUGH GET GOING!
Against this backdrop, Azmi & Associates does not wish to rest on its laurels, see events unfolding and become a victim to the shrinking global economy and by extension a more depressing legal market. Whilst other law firms are cautious in the wake of this uncertain period, Azmi & Associates is doing the reverse by establishing a new office.
With the strategy and measures having been put in place over the last couple of years and the strategic positioning of the Firm, not only in the local market but also regional and global market especially through the TerraLex International network, it is our hope that Azmi & Associates will not only be able to escape unscathed but also to become stronger in the process.
The strategy of Azmi & Associates behind the setting up of Johor Bahru branch office is driven by a few factors:
