Our Partner of the Global Financial Services & Banking Practice Group, Ahmad Lutfi Abdull Mutalip has recently been appointed to be on the panel of arbitrators at the prestigious Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (“KLRCA”). The appointment was effective from 15 November 2010.

His role at the KLRCA will mainly involve arbitrating any dispute, controversy or claim arising from Islamic Banking business, takaful business, Islamic financial business, Islamic development financial business, Islamic capital market products or services or any other transaction business which is based on Shariah principles.

KLRCA was established in 1978 under the auspices of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organisation (“AALCO”). It was the first regional centre established by AALCO in Asia to provide institutional support as a neutral and independent venue for the conduct of domestic and international arbitration proceedings in Asia.

The appointment of Ahmad Lutfi is another recognition of his expertise and experience in the area of Islamic Finance and Banking. The members of Azmi & Associates are delighted by his appointment and believe that Ahmad Lutfi will contribute to the further growth of KLRCA.
